My Bus arrived in Beeville Texas and I got off. The base was 5 miles away and there was no transportation to it. I went into a little adobe taco stand and had some. The Mexican girl who waited on me was cute as a bug, tiny black hair and said her name was Andy. It was obvious she was flirting. Her dad owned the little business. They told me to sit at the base ride stand a wooden shelter and someone going to the base would give me a ride. I was in uniform to report in as instructed, wearing my dress blues my hat bent and shaped a cool way to show I was more than a bootcamper.
The year was 1966 ,Jan--I had completed bootcamp in Great Lakes Illinoise,A schools in Millington Tenn., and had finished 2 nd in my class in Jet Hydraulics. I hadn't been sitting in the ride stand but a minute when a car pulled in the the guy said ya need a ride I said yes and he said hop in. He started making small talk, said he had a party planned for his place and would I like to come----this whole conversation struck me funny--then the guy grabbed and squeezed my leg and I jerked his hand off and angrily said what the hell are you doing and he said just tryin to get to know ya and I screamed for him to stop the car and let me out----back to the ride stand I walked about 1 1/2 miles fuming and wondering what kind of place I had been sent to. I wasnt very experienced in the ways of the world and that plain shocked me to death!!!. more later Rick the codgerman

I love America. The more I read about other countries and some of the atrocities being done to young women and children, I Thank God I was born here in the USA. Things seem out of sort with our government, but when you compare it to what is happening in a lot of other countries in this world, we are truly blessed.
I'm glad to have seen your blog. Some very interesting posts.
Have a great week and God Bless and a big hello to your Mrs.
Blessings, Karen
