We combined the sum of our intellect and couldn't come up with a rational explanation for what we had witnessed--let me rephrase that--we couldn't come up with a normal explanation--the term UFO seemed appropriate--we couldn't ID it-it did fly or at last move through the sky under some form of power-a silent energy--and we believed it was an object. We were still talking about our experience when the palteau, just past the far side of the canyon LIT UP LIKE A SUPERMARKET GRAND OPENING,a light show so magnificent that it could rival a major July 4th fireworks celebration. Giant search beams fired off into the Texas sky, from a central core on the ground,no more that 1/2 mile from us. Most of the primary colors. We were watching power light and beauty of immense proportions as if a city in celebration had just materialized on the rocky plateau that only a short time earlier had been the home to a few jack rabbits,a carnival of light and action in the Texas hills that definitely had our undivided attention. We concluded that this was the same object or another one.We observed the object for at least an hour and discussed it at length and concluded that the only way to satisfy our curiosity would be to walk to it and see for ourselves up close and personal as the expression goes. There was no inital fear, only a desire to find an answer. I backed the Camaro out of the narrow drive and we drove around the end of the canyon and stopped at a locked gate.Directly in front of us,600/800 yards was the source of all the mystery, power and beauty, its unabashed light show continued in earnest. We were only a short walk away and we would know. What happened next is still a little perplexing, perhaps it was fear of the unknown or an overwhelming feeling of vulnerability or maybe a telepathic warning,in any event our reaction was instantaneous,we faced each other and in unison said the words--LETS GO! I backed the car out and we headed off the ranch without even looking back.We considered telling the authorities in Kerrville--passed right by the sheriffs office--but decided not to-- I was transferred to Galveston shortly after the hill country incident.I have lost track of Danny and never have been able to remember his last name.I want very badly to talk with him again about what we witnessed. I pay attention to UFO stories especially ones with similarities. I feel privileged to have seen waht we did and it has taught me to keep my minds door open to the unlimited possibilities that exist.I will always wonder what if,and think of that time in the Texas hills in the land of the whitetail and the night of the lights.
P.S Danny and my wife were expecting and delivered kids one day apart---my middle son while in elementary school did not draw the typical stick figure people and mommy and daddy--he drew space creatures with large heads and eyes--all a bit unique--from one another. The end---The Codger

liked your shark story--nice to hear you are a writer--I myself am on my second book==it is called "It's Me,House" and it is the story of the house all 9 of us children grew up in from 1941 until present day, my son bought our house when my parents passed away, as it held lots of memories for him also, growing up along with my sibblings.
The story is being told thru the eyes and ears of the house itself, hence the title. My first book took me almost 4 years to finish so I have no idea how long this will take, as it is a labor of love about a house filled with love and memories that no one can take away--sorry I am so gabby...
